As much as we fed our stomaches this year, with turkey and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy…
Our hearts and souls were fed by brothers bundled up together in footie pajamas,
By cuddles in a big chair when we’re all feeling a little under the weather,
By moments captured in time, of friends taking part in our life,
And a little boy, reading a story to his grandpa.
I love the holidays for the smell of cinnamon spice in the air, the warmth of hot chocolate seeping into my bones and the air of anticipation that pervades it all. But mostly, I love this time of year for the relationships: visits with family and too much food, joyous caroling with friends around our neighborhood, standing shoulder to shoulder with my fellow believers in a candlelit service at church. You all know my love of a good birthday celebration…and this one is the best birthday season ever!
The gift received through the birth of Jesus is not only the gift of salvation, but the gift of fellowship.
In turning to Him, we not only find ourselves in relationship with Him, but also in communion with other believers.
How has your soul been fed lately through the community of others?

It’s such a sweet gift we receive here. Thank you for sharing this so beautifully with words and pictures.
Thanks, Lisa! π
We are so blessed to have family like this. So many don’t know these joys. It’s incredible and shows God’s great goodness and mercy.
Also, “The gift received through the birth of Jesus is not only the gift of salvation, but the gift of fellowship.” That cannot be said enough. Thanks Melissa.
Very true, Jason! Thanks.
I love these pictures. Holidays are the best time of the year because they are the times when we take a few minutes and actually enjoy our lives and our families. Thanks for sharing a piece of your holiday with us.
Thanks for taking a peek in. π I do love the holidays!
What a treat! Love the photos and the thoughts poured forth.
Thanks Joanne! I love sharing my family with you all. π
Love the pics and the vintage feel, Melissa. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Tony. You’re always such an encouragement!
Fellowship, like family, is something that lasts, something worth keeping and nurturing and tending. It’s more than a hurried conversation over a cup of coffee; it’s what we have in Christ. Good post.
Glynn, it’s always nice to have you stop by! Your insights are appreciated. Thank you!
Fellowship with our friends and loved ones, and fellowship with our Lord. Great Post and I liked the way you brought in communion and community !!
Thanks Hazel! π
This post sums up why I love the holidays, too. It’s the best time of the year, and it truly envelops every ounce of my being. Family and love and joy just flows from the air, the cold winds, and winter snows. Beautiful post, and those babes of yours are so handsome and sweet! Remembering the gift of fellowship, remembering it IS a gift of the Lord, is such a great reminder.
Thanks Tricia. π This is the best time of the year! Praying you and your family experience it fully.
You know what I find most amazing about my community and fellowship of believers? It seems like every time I seek to bless others, the blessings I receive in return are abundantly more than what I could have offered. These friends of mine, these women who walk through life with me-their prayers, their words of encouragement are like honey to my soul. Without them, I’d look like a fish out of water, floundering about. Ahhh! You just totally inspired a blog post for me. Thanks, Melissa. And that picture of your boy with grandpa…priceless!
Yay! Can’t wait to read your post. π They’re always a blessing to me.
