Do you know what causes seasons to change? It’s the relation of the earth to the sun…
Think about it, the distance of our spinning ball of water and land from that other larger spinning ball of flame causes weather, biological and physical changes to our planet.
What are we, but water and clay. How does our proximity to the fire of God impact our life? When I am dizzying myself in my own mess, far from His presence and purposes, storms come and life fades from view. As I draw closer to Him, allowing His gentle presence to rain down on me, sensing the soft breeze of the Holy Spirit blowing across my soul, new life begins to form. In the height of intimacy with Him, the power of His being is almost too much to bear. We must shield our eyes, and cover our face.
The changing of the seasons is a part of life, for the place we occupy that was once formless and empty, and for ourselves that could be described the same way.

“How does our proximity to the fire of God impact our life?” And just like that, Melissa, you have changed my whole morning. Wow. Thank you! I have never put that question into words before, and yours are beautiful and true and they seem like they’re waiting for me. This whole post has me spinning with new thoughts. Thank you.
It was definitely a question God was asking me, too. Thanks for stopping by, Hilary! π
this is lovely Melissa… absolutely amazing. I love how you have integrated faith and science here and turned it into poetry. I have to believe that was the intent of the original writers of genesis too π
Funnily enough, I hate science. Haha! Thanks for popping in, Jenny. π
