Checking In

The new year smell is starting to fade.

What once appeared shiny, flawless and brilliant is slowly slipping into dull, scuffed and ordinary. Words, resolutions, goals that brought a sense of hope, destiny and purpose now have to be lived out in the day-to-day.

We’re a little over one week into 2011, how are you doing?

Do you feel run down? Are you not making the strides you expected to see by this point? Have you thought about giving up?

Be encouraged!

You can make it, because you’re not relying on yourself, but on the strength of God to get you through!

Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. {Isaiah 43:18-19, emphasis mine}

Expect the impossible! If God has placed an idea, a dream, a goal, a vision, a purpose, a change on your heart

that He will see it through to fruition.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. {Philippians 1:6}

I have something happening this week that seemed just a dream, an impossible wish, at the time I said it. Slowly, I’ve watched as God put the pieces together to bring about the very thing I’d hoped for! I know many of you are going through rough times, trials that seem insurmountable.

Lean into Him. Hold nothing back. Trust that He has your best in mind and will make a way where the path seems lost.

God is doing a new thing! A new thing He will perfect in your life.

And if you need prayer, I’d love to pray for you today.

  1. Great words of life here, Melissa! I am doing well actually. Moving forward. Trusting God. Receiving more revelation. It’s good to follow Him where He leads even if it’s seemed dark and uncertain at times. I’m leaning on His strength to be fearless! Thanks–great post.

    1. I’m so glad to hear that, Jason! I know you had some big dreams that God placed on your heart. I’m praying that you continue to feel His strength and peace as you move forward in them. πŸ™‚

  2. i see big smiles jumping out from this post and i love it! God is the master orchestrator and it truly, truly is amazing to see Him work. i’m failing quite miserably from my perspective, but God is not. And I guess that is truly my first lesson in being FAITHFUL. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful.” Do I trust Him to carry me through? Do I trust Him to pick up where I leave off? Can I see HIS work, when I don’t see MY work? Still pondering!

    1. Heading over to check it out. Actually, I’ve notice a number of people posting on this theme today. Must be a 10th of January post. πŸ™‚

  3. oh friend, what can you pray for me. . .well, what can you not? ((sigh)) i am weary. my soul is tired of fighting. . .tired of losing the battle, being viewed as crazy, and having no idea of what anything means or what is coming. i continue to lean in. i continue to have courage, but right now it’s simply a mask. right now, if i was being completely honest, i don’t know that God is going to work out my life for good. i don’t know that He will have the victory because right now, it feels as if all we are doing is losing battles together. okay-that was depressing. sorry!!!

    1. Lauren, I always appreciate your honesty and your willingness to share where you are at. And, friend, we’ve all been there! There’s no shame is feeling uncertain, because you are continuing to follow Him, look to Him and trust Him in your uncertainty. Praying for you today, and everyday. Just keep walking beside Him!!

  4. I’m scheduled to speak on Saturday morning to a group of men at our church. Normally I would know well in advance what I am speaking about. But right now I’m still not sure. Still, I’m confident that God will reveal it. I’d really appreciate your prayers that I be completely open to receive and share whatever He wants. Thanks!

    1. Praying for you today, Larry! And, praying for the men that you’re speaking to, that they’re hearts and minds would be open to the truths that God will give you to share with them. Blessings!!

    1. Oh, something we all need to work on! I think I wear my Lisa Leonard “In Grace Alone” necklace just to keep that in mind. πŸ™‚ Praying for you today, friend! May the grace of God cover you as you deal with others in your life.
