Chicken Soup for the Blog

Did you hear the news? We’re moving this summer!

That’s right, we’re hitting the road and making our way north to the Evergreen State.

I fully intended on writing about that today; providing some of the where’s, why’s and when’s to the story…

Then sickness descended upon our household.

Suffice to say, the details will have to wait.

We are considering this though…

I will now go back to tending to my sick children {and sick self}.

My weekend was full of english breakfast tea and red vines…

What makes you feel better when you’re sick?

  1. Oh dear, is mine tomorrow? I hope you made it prettier. πŸ™‚ I sent you the second draft. As in, I wrote it in an old school notebook and tried to make it make more sense as I typed it into the email. And I still never wrote the bio! Here: Janelle is a wife and mother of four who is desperately trying to finish college and get out of pizza delivery before her 30th birthday at the end of this year. She enjoys sitting, daydreaming, and farting around on the internet when she should be doing any number of unpleasant things like cleaning or homework. She can often be found staying up way too late at night commenting on blogs.

That should be fine. Oh, I should have sent you a picture of my new haircut! Too late, I had it in a ponytail, it looks all crazy now. I got bangs! (A guy at work said they make me look younger. If there is a better way of making a woman feel old I have not heard of it. So now I get to worry that my forehead makes me look old. Thanks Mike.)

Anyways I hope everyone enjoys it.

    1. Ok…oh sleep deprived one. The post is going up tomorrow. So, send me the prettied up one, with the prettied up picture of your young forehead and I’m going to use your bio. Haha!

  2. I have a deal with my best friend: whoever dies first the other does the funeral. Can I hire that dude if he dies first since i don’t think I will be able to emotionally handle losing a friend of over 38 years? On a serious side: looking forward to reading some of your guest posts Melissa. To your post: I have been blessed with good health. I very seldom get sick and when i do it is usually a cold. I try to get some extra rest, drink a lot of green tea with mint, (every once in awhile take NyQuil (yeah I know) and keep moving. Praying you and the kids are getting better.

    1. I’m sure he’d do it…he did ask if we wanted to be his friend! πŸ™‚ Haha! That’s quite a pact you’ve made. I don’t know that I could follow through with it either.

Thank you for the prayers, and now I will go take a nap.

    1. Me too! I want my mommy…and she’s in Washington. Now you know the real reason we’re moving. Haha! Feel better Tony. πŸ™‚

      1. Well, Mommy has been sick all week – so I probably would have been asking you to take care of me! But I am still delighted that you and your lovely, wonderful, adorable……family are coming HOME!!!!

        1. Whoa!! Look at you mom, making a comment! πŸ™‚ Better watch out or you’ll have your own blog soon. Haha! Love you, and so glad you’re finally feeling better. I’m sure I’ll provide you with plenty of other opportunities to come and baby me.

          1. I got my mom into blogging a year ago.

She just won a sweepstakes award with the service she blogs for. A $2000 Visa card.

Pretty cool for someone who’s unemployed.

      1. LOVE IT!

Thank you for sharing that wonderfulness with me! πŸ™‚ I now REALLY want some Top Ramen though. Haha!

    1. My wonderful husband went to the store specifically to get me some tea and licorice. And…he got me decaf tea so I can drink as much as I want without making Silas all buzzy.

I think my favorite “sick” tea is Tazo’s Awake…but that would just be a bad combo with nursing. Haha!

  3. I love to get under the covers, and play with my ipad all day while giggling like a sick school girl watching funny YouTube Videos. Oh, and sipping some tea. Oh, and soup too. Wait, and (warning: weird) not taking a shower. #dont’judgeme

    1. I was searching out YouTube videos when I wrote this post, I wanted to put up the SNL skit of Mike Meyers doing the Hyper-Hypo or the Cowbell skit (get it – FEVER). Apparently that’s a copyright infringement. So, what’s your favorite video you’ve discovered lately, Moe? I need a laugh. πŸ™‚

And, I’m on day 3 with no shower. #notjudging

      1. Which part is a copyright infringement and where did you hear that?!? I have been seeking out answers to these questions for a very long time. But I was actually told by a lawyer who also happens to be a blogger that you can post YouTube videos in your blog as long as there is an embed code.

        1. The issue I ran into was that the videos were either people recording their TV with a camera, or the video was played backwards (the image flipped). The people who had originally posted the clip were the ones who were risking copyright infringement, so I didn’t want to promote that. πŸ™‚

  4. I’m sorry you and your sweet family are sick! If I were close, I’d bring real soup.

I like bread. Sourdough, french, bagels…my comfort food. When sick, I also like throat coat tea. Or coke. Or yogurt if it’s tummy troubles. πŸ™‚

I’m excited for your guest posts!

    1. I’m going to be close!!!!! That makes me feel better. πŸ™‚ Josh and I still talk about that carrot soup you and Kirsten brought us. So yummy!

I’ve never tried throat coat tea, but since my pregnancy with Ezra I’m a total coke addict (soda, people). Haha!

  5. Mashed potatoes and grilled cheese sandwiches πŸ™‚
I’m sorry you’re under the weather. I am happy you are moving up to WA. Makes it more likely we will live near enough to visit before the end of the year!

    1. I would love that Sarah! Are you guys moving as well?

And now I need to figure out how to get mashed potatoes for dinner without going to the store. πŸ™‚

      1. We are! Plans aren’t finalized yet, but Pacific Northwest is our destiny πŸ˜‰ I’m really excited about that although, as you know, it takes a lot of work to move a family. Get well soon!

  6. When I’m sick, my favorite comfort foods are typically Asian: li hing mui (which is dried plum seed) and chicken long rice (which is basically an Asian version of chicken noodle soup). And, laying around, watching tv and reading. πŸ™‚

  7. can’t wait to hear more about your move and all your plans! and i looooove what you’ve done with your blog. it’s beautiful, friend.

    1. I had coffee with Sarah a couple of weeks ago and it made me miss you. πŸ™‚ Speaking of blogs…I am amazed at what is going on over at yours! God is doing powerful stuff through you lady!

  8. That’s exciting! Can’t wait to hear more about it. And now I’m seriously considering taking out an ad like that. πŸ™‚
