{To Do}

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. {Matthew 11:28}

I’ve got something missing from my “To Do” list…

Do you?

Now thats interesting. Every day I plan out my day, look at my work calendar, and make sure I have everything “in place”. Wouldn’t it be neat to set an appointment for my time with God? :)

    1. Melissa says:

As I sat there with an ever increasing list of chores and errands, God showed me what a different “To Do” list could be:

      * Hug Eli * Sing praise songs * Lie on the floor with Ezra and look at cars * Talk to my husband. * Call a friend to chat. * Take a nap

So often I don’t view these things as priorities. He was impressing on me that these are the things that should take precedence.

  2. Danielle says:

I just read that verse yesterday and it really spoke to me, as I’ve been definitely stressed lately!

  3. Jason says:

    I need that verse. :(

  4. Keri says:

I probably could have designed my bedroom around that verse, too!
He gives us REST if we just COME. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

    1. Melissa says:

I love the idea of designing your room around a verse! There’s such an intentionality to it. What did you do in your room to promote rest?

  5. Moe says:

I think it’s only fair that we also begin creating a “not to do” list. Just sayin’

    1. Melissa says:

On that list I would include: worry!

  6. jenn says:

I am right there with you.

  7. Wow! What a poignant challenge & reminder! Thank you!

    Hopping over from Faith Barista!

    1. Melissa says:

      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  8. kelli says:

Great verse and photo!:) I love that verse! We can only find rest in HIM!

    1. Melissa says:

Why is it we look for it in so many other places? :)

  9. Jeri Taira says:

Short and empowering. I now see I should be putting rest at the top of my to do list, the middle and the end.

  10. Your handwriting is gorgeous!
    But I suppose that’s really not the point… ;)

Thank you for this. It’s so timely and I always admire a girl who understands the appeal of being succinct. (I, on the other hand, do not…)

    Have a restful weekend!

    1. Melissa says:

      Haha! Thanks! :)

  11. Larry Hehn says:

Very timely post, Melissa. I’m changing my list!

    1. Melissa says:

So what’s on your list now, Larry?

      1. Larry Hehn says:

My list now includes: pray, hug my wife, play with my sons…stuff that shouldn’t be missed!

        1. Melissa says:

          Great additions, Larry. :)

  12. Duane Scott says:

Peace be with you, Melissa. :)

P.S. Nice handwriting. You could never be a doctor.

    1. Melissa says:

For more reasons than just having legible handwriting. :) I don’t do needles.

  13. Sheryl says:

I’m not good at the written list—I tend to lose it. Today my mental list simply has rest til 5 PM on it. (Yes, not being a mother is immensely helpful in this case.) Wonderful post, Melissa!

    1. Melissa says:

I want your to do list!! :)

  14. Stan Rodda says:

Thanks so much for the challenge. I love the way you did that. Very creative. I’m not perfect at this, but I have time on my calendar called, “God’s Time.” 5:30 am comes way too early some mornings for me. Unfortunately, I sometimes push God off until later in the day. Thanks for the challenge to stay on track.
