Some little known facts

For all of us non-BlogHer‘s Pensieve Robin is hosting a BlogHop! What a great opportunity to meet new people while wearing our pajamas!! If I could wear pajamas all day, I would. But I digress…

I always hate having to describe myself because I usually just list my roles in life and my accomplishments. I sometimes think I haven’t represented myself correctly on the Internet because, really, it all goes through the filter of ME.

So, here’s my About Me where you can read the roles.

But here’s some fun stuff because people who already know me are reading this too and I want to make it interesting for all

I live at my church. We call it the compound. It’s crazy because the church sanctuary is right. below. my living room. Right below…as in the walls shake during youth group. The fun part is that some of our best friends also live here so we get this college dorm feeling, without the homework.

My husband says I’m funniest on Fridays. I think it’s true too. This is most likely due to the fact that I know it’s the weekend and I tend to be less responsible. I get giddy with the idea of two whole days to be free. As a SAHM you’d think the weekends wouldn’t be that big of a deal for me. However the weekends mean that my husband’s home (and I love him!).

I {love} stationary! When I was younger I would write letters to my cousin and never send them. I always dreamed about having a writing desk that opened up and had stacks of clean, crisp writing paper, fun pens, and sealing wax with a seal. A couple of years ago my husband partially made this dream come true by purchasing me the paper, sealing wax and seal for a present. But, unfortunately, no one writes real letters anymore. It’s all texts, email, Facebook, and Twitter — which I also love. So, if you have an unhealthy obsession with receiving letters in the mail (like me) let me know and I’ll be your pen pal.

This blog is mainly full of myself, my family, and my God. I try to have more of my God than myself but I somehow find a way of slipping in to each post. Thankfully, so does He.

  1. I’m not even joking we should be pen pals. I would love a sealing wax and would LOVE to get an envelope that sealed in the mail!

  2. Hi there! Just stopping by from the Blog Hop! Love the name of your blog and that you admit to being a work in progress…I feel the same way…and what a gift to have the grace to know it!

    • Thanks for checking out my blog, Theresa! I love that Robin is hosting this because it provides such a great opportunity for bloggers to get to know each other…without having to fly to New York. :)

  3. Nice to meet you!

I’ve never met anyone who lives above the sanctuary, so you are certainly unique….!

And I’ll have to ask my hubby what day I am funniest on… I had never considered that before!

    • The youth band is warming up as we speak…which means my husband and I are getting our four children ready to head out. :) Thanks for dropping by and commenting. It’s great to meet new people!

  4. Would you believe that I’m writing this while sitting at a vintage built-in writing desk that has sweet little cubby holes and closes up?

Alas – it is not stocked with crisp paper for writing, fancy pens or sealing wax. It is full of odd books, notes to myself, lists, home school papers, several of my kids craft projects and 3 potato peelers (don’t ask!).

You’ve given me a vision for what could be!

    • So jealous right now…and also wondering about the potato peelers. :) Someday I’d love to have a writing area. Whenever I think about it I picture Emily’s room at New Moon in L.M. Montgomery’s Emily series. It’s at the top of the house, with a dormer window and a window seat full of cushions. There’s a small fire and a little desk. And a cat. :) And I’d sit there writing letters, drinking tea. Haha! Someone has read one too many classic literature books.

    • It’s kind of an obsession for me. I love the smell of fresh paper — which is why Nooks/Kindles/iPads will never completely replace actual books — and I love a good pen that has smooth flowy ink. I always have to check out the stationary section at Borders and I love Papyrus. How excited was I when I saw their stuff at Target! :) One of my favorite things is when I finish a journal and get to go buy a new one. It’s so full of possibility and I always wonder what will fill all those pages. Ok, now I’ve shown my crazy. :)

    • I don’t know how we started that…just one day my husband said Friday was my funny day. :) Like I said, I think I get a little crazy. Haha!

  5. Stopping by from the Hop! Nice to meet you. My sister bought me sealing wax and a heart seal. I have my moms old secretary writing desk in my bedroom. Here is my email drop me a line I will write you back. I miss snail mail too! And you are right “ereaders” will never replace real books for me either. Have a great weekend!

    • Maybe I need to start a snail-mail group so we can all write each other. Wouldn’t it be fun to unexpectedly receive cards and letters in the mail. :)

  6. It would be very interesting to live in a church I think. I think it’s a shame that no one writes “real” letters anymore. There’s nothing like getting a letter in the mail. Something fun to read and knowing that someone was thinking of you.

    • I don’t actually live in a church. I live in an apartment above a church. :) But somedays it feels like I’m in the church because we hear everything downstairs. You’re right about it being interesting! There’s always something going on!!

And, I love to know that someone is thinking about me. That’s why I like my birthday so much…the presents are fun, but my favorite part is knowing that people are thinking about me because it’s my birthday.

  7. I have lived in a church building before too & I tend to get silly on Fridays. We have a lot in common!

Actually, technically right now, we have a church sanctuary right across our driveway and the children’s church and nursery meet in our house so I guess we still sort of live in a church! :)

    • There’s definitely some perks to it. One being that it only takes me a minute to get there. :) Somehow I still manage to be late though. Haha!

Glad you stopped by and thanks for the comment. Have a great Sunday!

  8. I’m a SAHM and I LOVE, LOVE Fridays! Yay, another person with me and the kids! LOL.

I love learning about these new fun facts about you! I need serious help with my ton of stationery too! I didn’t know you lived at church. That is so interesting.

So glad you’re blogging… with a bit of you and a bit of God. ;) Together, you make a great combination!

    • My husband makes fun of me because I love to buy stationary and hats and I barely use either of them. It’s an obsession. :)

Thanks for always being so encouraging! Getting to know you has been a fun part about blogging.

  9. Just Hoppin By, Sorry I’m a little late, I’m #255,
I am happy to meet you… I think it could get funny living above the church..doesn’t seem so romantic. lol :o
