Five Minute Friday: Dive

I find it appropriate that “dive” is the prompt for this week’s Five Minute Friday. It’s been quite awhile since I participated and I feel like I’m leaping into something again.

So, here’s 5 minutes of unedited free writing on “dive.”

GO

Sometimes you hold your breath, protecting yourself in an unfamiliar environment. Sometimes you jump in feet first, hoping to impress everyone with your big splash.

Then there is that perfect one, where everything comes together so unified and serene. Not a ripple is seen and people barely realize that you’ve arrived.

I tended to go for the big splash, because I was afraid of being missed…unnoticed. Even if its messy, it draws attention.

I’ve come to realize that the one that produces the best result is the quiet, calm, deep-breath beforehand, smooth glide into the water. That’s when it works best, because its not always important to be seen. What’s most important is remembering to point your toes at the end.

When it all goes right, and everyone just thinks that’s how it happened on its own.

this is not helping me lose weight

I was hoping to reach a new goal by December 31st. In 8 months I lost 40 lbs doing Weight Watchers. Actually, it was 6-1/2 months.

Since September I’ve been stuck.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my weight loss plateaued at the beginning of the comfort food, holiday baking, and cookie decorating chaos season.

I thought I’d kick start the downward trend by joining a local gym & setting a new goal: 50 lbs by the new year!

At two weeks away & 9 pounds to go I don’t think I’m going to make it. And the fact that I’m making these delicious foods in those same two weeks is definitely not going to help.

Since I also don’t want you to lose weight during the holiday season, I thought I’d share with you the recipes I’m shopping for today.

Merry Christmas?

Here’s my favorite fudge that my Grandma made every year. I love fudge! I don’t think I’ll make the caramels this year, but they are yummy if you want to try them!

And here’s the recipe for what we’ll be having Christmas morning: baked apple porridge and homemade hot cocoa. So yummy!!!

As you can see, it may be difficult for me to reach that 50 pound goal by December 31st. I guess I’m going to have to work extra hard at the gym!
